About

Welcome to Astro Scribbles!

Could not think of better opening words…but welcome.
When starting a new blog this is the place to do so, on the “About” section. You start by telling something about yourself, maybe a little about why you started this blog and not the least important, you tell the visitor of your blog what he/she can expect to find on your pages. So here goes……..

Who am I? I’m René Nieuwenhuizen, a 50 year old Dutchman. I’m not completely new to blogging. A few years ago I started writing a blog called “Egyptology Scribbles”,  transformed it into “History and Archaeology blog” which is still online and can be found at: http://historyarchaeology.wordpress.com/
I have not been blogging for a while now and rediscovered an old hobby of mine, astronomy. After taking on a new Twitter account (@_Astro_Tweets_) I decided it was time for a new blog too. Reading about astronomy and space flight just is not enough for me. Blogging about what I learn is an important part of my learning process.

So what can you expect to find on this blog?
For now I will share with the reader of this blog the interesting articles I find while browsing the web (Astronomy News), interesting historical “facts” (#TDIH – This Day In History), many beautiful space pictures (#EyeCandy) and in the future some articles of my own (don’t hold your breath, I did not say the “near” future 😉 )

This about covers it, can not think of anything more……again…..welcome.
